"I have had 6 knee surgeries and one wrist surgery. The Pilates method has helped me regain a high level of function without further injury. I am a Physical Therapist and have personally trained and certified under Aliesa George at Centerworks® Pilates. I have successfully incorporated the Pilates Methodology into my practice with good result. Leaning the Pilates Method has totally changed the way I look at how the body moves and how I treat my patients."

“Your Pilates manual is excellent!”
-Nancy S., Charlton, MA

“I started Pilates in 1996 after reading a newspaper article stating that it would change my life. IT HAS. I stand taller and straighter and feel stronger. Aliesa is a Barnabas in the world of Pilates. She is an encourager who encourages her clients to be better by doing Pilates. Even small changes are recognized. She tailors Pilates’ movements and positions to each individual and strives to develop techniques to help each one. Pilates at Centerworks is a wonderful, challenging exercise program. IT MAKES ME FEEL GOOD!
-A.C.

“I love everything about Centerworks, but mostly the consistent care, knowledge, and enthusiasm that is demonstrated every time anyone walks through the door. Thank you for the opportunity to attend Centerworks.”
-Barbara F.

“I love Pilates at Centerworks! With my physical limitations I am not able to do mat class, but love working with Mei and Joy. They have taught me how to exercise without stress to my low back. They are teaching me to undo all those years of bad habits. I feel taller, stronger, and wiser. Thank you.”
-Judy Y.

“As a physician, I am convinced of the benefits that Aliesa has been providing through her fitness programs.”
-Edmond G. Feuille Jr., MD

“I started Pilates four and a half years ago and plan to continue for the next 20 years. I am thrilled to have greater flexibility and strength in my joints. I used to have trouble with my ankles turning and twisting –no more. The Pilates Method is perfect for me.”
-Ellen W.

“Injuries forced me to quit dance after 14 years. I had weight gain after starting heart medication. I was feeling fat and sloppy. Six months of Pilates at Centerworks has made a world of difference. I feel great! I look better and I’m standing tall and fit again. I have regained flexibility and strength. The most amazing thing to me is that I have never been stiff and sore after class. I love the variety of instructors. I learn something more from each one. Life is good!”
-Laura E.

“I have seen a drastic change in my abdominals.”
-Genia R.

“After only three weeks in Beginner Pilates, I am already getting some stomach and breathing control while sitting at my desk or driving, even though I am not consciously thinking about it. I also have increased flexibility in several areas.”
-Rod P.

“I feel much stronger and more flexible, I have lost a little weight and LOTS of inches, and, unlike other programs, I have stuck with Pilates now for eight months.”
-Janet

“I cannot say enough good things about the Pilates Method of exercise and training. I have been going to Aliesa George for exercise since May 1995. My flexibility and strength have improved greatly! I am no longer bothered by painful areas in my body that have annoyed me for years. Aliesa is very knowledgeable and helpful in my exercise program. She is very sensitive to my particular needs and limitations. She has a gentle way of encouraging me to push myself to stretch just a little farther or work just a little harder. I would recommend her to anyone in need of rehabilitation, developing strength and flexibility, and/or toning.”
-Beverly F.

“I have gotten stronger physically. Pilates continues to be a challenge. The Centerworks program is more comprehensive than others I have participated in.”
-Donna S.

“I went to one Pilates class elsewhere prior to enrolling in your program and there was no comparison. I have a newfound appreciation for the training and instruction at Centerworks.”
-Melissa T.

“I've been doing the Pilates Method for about 9 years now. I've never found any other form of structured movement to be as effective in building inner core strength and vertebrae extension and flexibility. This method also teaches great body awareness, helps you pay attention to your posture, breathing and what your body is communicating. This method feels natural, in rhythm with the body. This method is not only for the physically fit, I've seen it do wonders for folks who have physically debilitating restrictions, helping them with movement, vertebrae alignment and strengthening. I'm a life-long advocate for the Pilates Method and the programs offered at Centerworks Pilates.”
-Donna C.

“I first saw the Pilates exercises on a TV infomercial, and it appealed to me because I could exercise in my clothes, without shoes on. That may seem silly, but to change clothes and bend down to tie my tennis shoes was more than I could do at the time. I later saw an article in the newspaper about a local Pilates studio and went to investigate. I discovered I needed training, not just to buy another piece of exercise equipment to sit at home. This is the only program I have continued for six years, and I am stronger, leaner, and without injury. Everyone at Centerworks helps me to work to my limit without causing injury. I have overcome so many weaknesses, mentally and physically. I have lost inches, I feel better, and the people here have become very close to me.”
-Judy S.

“Picture this—a 40-something woman trying to do Pilates and getting dizzy every time she changes positions. Her flexibility was poor and she had neck and back problems. Fast forward to 2006, after nine years of doing Pilates. The woman now does advanced Pilates exercises; has increased flexibility, strength, and body awareness; has less back discomfort; a more toned body; and greater self-confidence. Being that woman, Pilates has drastically improved my level of fitness and has prevented my back problems from becoming disabling. I enjoy both private sessions with Aliesa and working on my own. Either way, Pilates challenges me to always do more to increase my strength, stamina, and fitness. I cannot imagine life without doing Pilates—it has become a very necessary part of my weekly schedule. And the friendships that have developed along the way are invaluable. Thanks Aliesa for always keeping me on track.”
-Elaine S.

"Thanks for giving me my core back so I can do the things I love!"
-Sondra S.

“The story of my journey with Pilates is a success story. I do have curvature of the spine and have spent many days unable to move with the intense pain. When I was thirty-six years old, I was in the pre-operating room to have my spine fused. Fortunately for me, the surgeon became ill and was put into intensive care just at the moment of my scheduled surgery. I didn’t have my back fused.

Ten years ago, my curiosity about a new tenant in our building moved me to check out her program. I signed up for a few lessons. No commitments. (I have never taken any pride in being an athlete, or becoming one.) I soon learned that Pilates was something that I could do. Not only could I succeed, but I could do it without the embarrassment of failure.
Within six sessions, my poor aching back ceased to give me pain. What a change in my life! It gave me a hopeful outlook for my physical future. At first I thought that I might be too old for Pilates to work for me. How wrong was I? Now I open the door of the studio with a smile on my face. I no longer have back pain, I have energy, and much better posture.

Did I say that many people perceive my age to be at least ten years younger than my actual birth date?

Thank you, Aliesa, for all you have done for me, and for what we have accomplished together. I will continue to do my Pilates exercises, because I am ADDICTED!”
-June V.

“Pilates is one’s own dedication and discipline. Following hip replacement surgery and spine degeneration I lacked muscular strength to correctly use muscles for walking, sitting, rising and standing. Acupuncture and acupuncture massage was a brief relief. It was my therapist who recommended the Pilates program. Now I am walking, adjusting posture and doing my daily exercise to keep in shape. Thanks to the Pilates system and my special teacher at Centerworks Pilates, I am able to have more control over my life-movements and disposition.”
-Ruth C.

“I love Pilates! It helps me relax and feel better! I would recommend it to everybody!”
-Lindsay M.

“Lindsay began her instruction at Centerworks Pilates in September 2003. Since then I have noticed a total re-shaping of her entire body. Lindsay is a dancer and has had an increase in stamina and strength which has helped her dancing as well. Lindsay’s flexibility has also improved. She never complains about going to class, and always has more energy afterwards.”
-Connie M. (Mother)

“I started Pilates in August 2003. I use Pilates as my cross training exercise. My primary sport is Dressage riding (an equestrian sport). Pilates’ emphasis on your center is exactly the same emphasis as riding –you want to be centered with the horse’s center of balance, so you can move in harmony with him. It is key that the rider carries herself in balance. Pilates’ emphasis on a supple spine, carrying yourself with your ribs off your hips, shoulders down, BREATHING, all reinforce and improve the posture and position I maintain on my horse. With the emphasis on how each muscle is working with each exercise we do in Pilates, it has raised my awareness of the muscles and how they are working in my horse. I ride with more sensitivity to my horse, our balance is together, and we move in harmony.Pilates has taught me how to engage my lower abs. I always thought of pushing down and out, but now am mastering the “back and up” of pulling in my lower abs. My back has not been sore with all the chores I have in cleaning the stalls for my three horses, lifting bales of hay, bags of grain, and maintaining five acres. I credit this fact to learning how to use my abs to protect my back, and balance the work throughout my core, rather than isolating it to a few muscles.Another area that Pilates brought awareness was in my workstation. I work on the computer all day, and found that I was squinting and craning my neck in awkward positions. I realized that I was trying to see through my progressive lens and trying to find the right spot to see. I realized that I was really putting a strain on my neck and back by the way I was trying to look through my glasses. I decided that I needed a second pair of single vision glasses to see from my desk to the computer, so I did not have to strain my neck to see, but could sit in good posture and balance. I would not have made that connection without the awareness of my body and how to keep it well that I receive at Pilates.I find that I carry myself with better posture, both standing and sitting. It makes me feel alert, engaged with life, staring it straight in the eye! When I slouch, I feel like I am bending under the weight of the world.Last, but definitely the real key to my success with Pilates, is the excellent instruction I receive at Centerworks Pilates. Even in a mat class with 5 to 10 other students, the instructors all help each individual student correct or enhance their position. I have made so many breakthroughs in my understanding because of this attention to each individual. I also love the fact that there is so much to learn and to constantly challenge myself to do the exercises better. You do not have to work longer and harder with heavier weights to make improvements in your strength and suppleness. Thanks for letting me share my story. I look forward to expanding my knowledge, awareness, suppleness and strength in my body!”
-Maribeth W.

“Pilates is my friend. This came about several years ago when, as a male in my mid 50’s, I began finding my body slow to respond, creaky to activate and difficult to balance. I have been a diabetic for 35 years and, although I had experienced few physical problems, maintaining my diabetic control was becoming a challenge. I had also developed arthritis, my joints were painful, and several spinal fusions had led to a tight neck and tense shoulders. This was not the way I had planned to age!I have practiced yoga for over 10 years and, while I found it relaxing and helpful, it was clear I needed something more to maintain a healthy physical relationship with the world. A friend and I were sharing the challenges of growing older and she (she’s my age and in excellent health) mentioned Pilates, an activity that had helper her become more fit and flexible. She described the workouts as “yoga with caffeine” and suggested I contact Aliesa, the director at Centerworks Pilates. I met with Aliesa and began Pilates mat work ….and oh the relief it’s brought! Almost immediately I began to feel more steady on my feet, able to reach the floor without bending my knees, my joints were far less sore and, most of my back pains receded into memory. I spend an hour at Pilates two to four times per week and have come to appreciate these activities part of my lifestyle. I’ve been able to continue Pilates when traveling and have found it to be one of the best things that I’ve done for myself in a long time. I’m not 25 or 30 anymore, but my body feels better than it has in many years. It’s nice to have my muscle tone back and it feels great to walk with a spring in my step and not have to sit down to tie my shoes! Oh yes, I added Bigu Qigong to my Centerworks activities. My blood sugars had continued to be higher than I liked and, while Bigu Quigong primarily helps those needing weight loss, it worked to stabilize my diet and now my diabetes is in much better control than it had been.So Pilates is my friend, as are Aliesa, and the other Centerworks support team members. I’d recommend Pilates and Centerworks for anyone, especially for those of us who would like to have more youthful health and bodies.”
-Andy S.

“I have been doing Pilates for six years and it has changed my life in many ways. Before I started Pilates, I hated to exercise. I tried aerobics and step classes at the gym and decided I was never going back! I forced myself to walk on the treadmill so I would get some exercise, but didn’t find that very enjoyable. I’d read a lot about the benefits of Pilates in magazines and thought it was something I’d like to try, but until I read the article on Centerworks in the The Wichita Eagle, I didn’t know there were classes available locally. I signed up for the beginning class and have to admit, I thought it was a little strange – the seal and rolling like a ball seemed really weird to me. I stuck with it because Pilates seemed like something I could do, there were no choreographed dance steps that I couldn’t follow and none of that bouncing around like aerobics classes. Over time, Pilates gave me the physical conditioning to do other exercise activities I never thought I’d be in good enough shape to do, like spinning classes, weight classes, etc. I feel much stronger, toned and have more stamina for the things I do in my everyday life. I would highly recommend Pilates to anyone. No matter what physical condition you are in, it is something that can truly benefit everyone.”
